This preapprenticeship course is ideal for school leavers or those who wish to gain an apprenticeship in the construction industry. The course will give you the recognition and skills necessary to commence an apprenticeship in carpentry. Bendigo TAFE apprentices are well regarded within the local building industry.

The Certificate II in Building and Construction provides students with the skills and knowledge required to enter an Apprenticeship Program in carpentry. The course is offered with continuous enrolment; the hour of attendance for the course are 8:00am till 4:06pm 5 days a week on a full time basis over 16 weeks, at either our Charleston Road Campus or our Echuca Campus by professional and highly experienced teachers.
This program runs over 16 weeks and is delivered at the Institute in both a theory room and practical trade facilities. There is a fully fitted out carpentry workshop where there are nominated sections set up to undertake the carpentry work, painting and decorating. The program is organized in a self-paced mode, which allows for rolling enrolments. The delivery is structured with daily two hour theory sessions and the remainder in the workshop undertaking practical work. Students are supervised and there is a qualified staff member available to provide support to students. The OHS module must be completed first. At he start of each module students are shown the correct and safe method of using all tools, equipment and technique; this is done one on one. DAS002 provides further detail on the training program and methodologies, lessons, resources and assessment tasks. The students are provided access to the 'Student Tracker' which demonstrate the order of delivery and progress achieved. Modules of competency ware listed below in the sequence they are delivered.
