If you have a passion for caring for people with disabilities, want to work in one of the fastest growing industries in Australia, or simply want to know how to care for people when they need assistance, our Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) course will help you achieve your goals.
We understand your passion in helping others. That’s why we’ve created a course that supports and fosters your enthusiasm. Caring for individuals requires you to be knowledgeable within a wide range of specialised areas. In 6 months, our course will prepare you for working under supervision for disability organisations. 

The program will be delivered full time 2 days per week of 20 weeks in each semester in 2019. Class times are 9.00am to 4.00pm and facilitated by an industry sector expert in disability. Students will need a 4 day commitment in the second half of the program to allow for the 120 hours of mandatory placement.

Course Structure
All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported 
vocational outcome. Total number of units = 13
  • 7 core units
  • 6 elective units, consisting of:
  • At least 4 units from the electives listed below, at least 2 units must be from those units listed under Groups A, B or C
  • Up to 2 units from the electives listed below, any endorsed Training Package or accredited course – these units must be relevant to the work outcome
Any combination of electives that meets the rules above can be selected for the award of the Certificate III in Individual Support. Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation.
Packaging for each specialisation:
  • All Group A electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing). 
  • All Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).
  • At least four units from Group C electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Home and Community). 
  • Where two specialisations are completed award of the qualification would read Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community).

Successfully obtain and clear National Police Check (NPC) and Working With Children’s Check (WWCC).  Under current disability legislative requirements for workers all participants must have no disclosures.
